Mitski returns with her eighth studio album, Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, set for release on February 27, 2026 via Dead Oceans.

Joined by a live band and full orchestra, Mitski steps into a carefully constructed narrative framework on Nothing’s About to Happen to Me. The album follows a reclusive woman living in a cluttered, seemingly abandoned house, where she searches for freedom while confronting her own inner demons. Outside, she is volatile and unpredictable; inside, she finds space to unfold her complexity. This sense of duality runs as a quiet but persistent thread through both the music and the album’s visual world.

Musically, Mitski continues her close collaboration with producer and longtime creative partner Patrick Hyland, while the band from her previous album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, returns with richly textured performances. Expansive orchestral arrangements—composed and conducted by Drew Erickson—add emotional depth and cinematic scope, reinforcing the album’s immersive and introspective atmosphere.
